چکیده

Abstract Introduction Flexible nephroscopy is performed at the end of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) to confirm stone clearance. cystoscopes are commonly used perform through PCNL tract, however reusable scopes can provide limited optics due procedural factors such as renal bleeding and scope fibre-optic damage. The Ambu® aScope™ 4 Cysto (AmbuScope) a single-use disposable, video flexible cystoscope which has been solely in outpatient setting for bladder visualisation. We describe first experience single use during PCNL. Method Retrospective data was collected analysed 6-month period from 13 consecutive patients undergoing using AmbuScope nephroscopy. Stone free rates on nephroscopy, post-op complications, surgeons’ useability scores theatre staff opinions were collated. Results All procedures completed without complication or malfunctions. One patient died 27 days post operatively urosepsis osteomyelitis: unrelated scope. other cases had an uncomplicated recovery. Surgeon rated easy (40%) very (60%) access, user friendly (100%) good (20%) (80%) image quality. 60% respondents preferred over found be more cost-effective £135 compared £166 scopes. However, PCNL has superior stone clearance rate as compared to ESWL especially for lower pol...
